Arbetsmiljöverket

Arbetsmiljöverket is a government agency tasked by the government and parliament with ensuring that laws regarding work environment and working hours are followed by companies and organizations. Its goal is to reduce the risk of illness and accidents in the workplace and to improve the work environment from a holistic perspective. No one should have to be injured, fall ill, or die as a result of their work.

Arbetsmiljöverket has several areas of responsibility, including:

  • Developing regulations that clarify the Work Environment Act.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Work Environment Act and our regulations. We do this largely by inspecting workplaces.
  • Collecting statistics on the work environment, workplace accidents, and occupational diseases.
  • Promoting cooperation between employers and employees in work environment matters.
  • To disseminate information about the Work Environment Act and our regulations.
